June 2026

Dear Chamber Members and Massapequa Neighbors,

As my term as President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Massapequas comes to a close, I want to reflect on what an incredible honor it has been to serve this organization over the past two years.

I am extremely proud of everything we have accomplished together. During my presidency, we introduced several new community events, including our first Breast Cancer Walk, Trunk or Treat, and the Massapequa St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which has quickly become one of my proudest achievements. Watching our community come together for these events has been truly special.

This year, we were honored to welcome Massapequa native Brian Kilmeade as Grand Marshal of our St. Patrick’s Day Parade and recognize our Treasurer and longtime Board member, Karen Gawrych, as Grand Marshal of our Annual Street Fair. Both celebrations showcased the tremendous pride and spirit that make our community so special.

One of the highlights of this year was moving into our beautiful new Chamber office at 511 Ocean Avenue. Our new Manhattan-style building offers a welcoming and safe environment for our members and the community. Having a permanent home for the Chamber and creating a space where businesses, residents, and visitors can connect was something I had hoped to accomplish during my presidency, and I am proud to see it become a reality. We are also excited to soon unveil our new Chamber multi-business signs and install memorial benches honoring past Presidents Patricia Orzano and Anthony Ventiera at Marjorie R. Post Community Park.

Our Chamber membership has grown to more than 300 members, the strongest in our history, and we are ending the year in our best financial position ever. We also expanded our scholarship program, continued our food and toy drives, and honored the police officers, firefighters, and veterans who do so much for our community.

These accomplishments are the result of the hard work and dedication of our Board of Directors, volunteers, committee members, and Chamber staff. I am grateful to each and every one of you.

The Massapequas will always hold a special place in my heart. My husband Andrew and I raised our two boys here, and being able to give back to the community that has given so much to our family has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

I am especially proud that we are ending the year on such a high note with one of the most successful Street Fairs in Chamber history. The support of our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, members, and residents helped make it a tremendous success.

As I pass the torch to my dear friend Sal Polito, who has dedicated more than 25 years of service to our Chamber, I do so with complete confidence. I know the Chamber will continue to thrive under his leadership, and I look forward to supporting him as I join the ranks of our Past Presidents.

Thank you to our members, sponsors, volunteers, community leaders, and residents for your support throughout my presidency. Serving this organization and this community has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.

With gratitude,

Robin Hepworth
President

Dear Fellow Chamber Members and Residents of the Massapequa’s,

As I write this on Christmas Eve, I am reflecting on what a wonderful holiday season we have shared here in Massapequa. It began with our 5th Annual Holiday Fair, which truly kicked off the festivities with holiday shopping, festive activities, and a special visit from Santa Claus. I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who attended and supported this cherished community tradition, with special appreciation to our Main Sponsor, Investment Insight Wealth Management, along with CMIT Solutions of South Nassau, TLC Home Care, Long Island Snapshotz, and Legame Permanent Jewelry, for their generous support. A special thank you as well to our Holiday Fair Event Co-Chairs, Randi Jankowski and Isabelle Rapacciuolo, whose hard work helped make this year’s event better than ever. As we close out the year, I am incredibly proud of all we accomplished together and excited about the many events planned for 2026.

We were also grateful for the incredible support that made our Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony such a special evening for our community. Families enjoyed visiting with Santa, festive music, and student performances that truly captured the spirit of the holidays. A sincere thank-you to our main sponsor, Masone Masonry, for helping transform Klestinec Park into a beautiful winter wonderland, along with our Gold Star Sponsors CMIT Solutions, J.P. Scar Inc., Apple Bank, Massapequa Imaging, and TLC Home Care, for their generous support in making this special evening possible. We also extend our thanks to Broadway Gourmet for donating hot cocoa and cookies, helping everyone stay warm while celebrating together. Thank you to Sal Polito and Gary Slavin for their donations as well. Special appreciation goes to Chairperson Lucrezia Falacara and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and make the evening so memorable.

Our Annual Holiday Party at Mercato Kitchen & Cocktails was also a lovely evening enjoyed by all who attended.

We were proud to close out the season on a high note with our successful Toys for Tots collection and press conference at our new Chamber office. We continue this special tradition in memory of our Past President and friend Patricia Orzano. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and the participation of 25 Chamber member businesses, hundreds of toys were collected and will bring joy to many children in need this holiday season. A heartfelt thank-you to Toy Committee Chairperson Karen Gawrych and the committee for their dedication and hard work, as well as to all of our members who proudly displayed Toys for Tots collection boxes and helped make this initiative such a meaningful success. Patty’s legacy lives on through this program.

This month also brought moments of sadness. We were deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our dear friend Carol Leff, a longtime former board member whose dedication to our Chamber and community will always be remembered. Carol will be truly missed. Our hearts are also with our Past President, Robert Barrett, on the loss of his brother Michael. Losing a loved one is never easy, especially during the holiday season, and we extend our deepest condolences to the Leff and Barrett families during this difficult time.

Wishing you and your families a very Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Warm regards,

Robin Hepworth

With autumn now in full swing, I have been thinking about how proud I am of what our Chamber has achieved this year. This time of year always brings a sense of gratitude, and I truly appreciate everything our members and our board do to keep our community thriving.

We recently had the pleasure of honoring our Businessperson of the Year, Michael Masone of Masone Masonry, at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Michael is not only a successful local business owner, but also a dedicated community supporter and longtime Chamber member. He is always one of the first to step up as a generous sponsor and lend a helping hand to our Chamber and our town. Our Board of Directors proudly joined with the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce to celebrate his many accomplishments. Congratulations again to Michael on this well-deserved honor.

We also had a successful 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat, which brought out hundreds of local families for a fun and festive afternoon. A big thank-you to James Funeral Home for sponsoring this event.

As we head into the season of giving, we are happy to share that our Annual Food Drive has officially ended, and we collected hundreds of items that were delivered to our local pantries. Thank you to Chairperson Karen Gawrych and to everyone who helped make this collection such a success. Our Toys for Tots drive is now in full swing. If you would like to display a toy collection box at your business, please call our office.

We are also excited to share that the Chamber office has officially relocated to our new home at 511 Ocean Avenue. We cannot wait for you to see it. This beautiful, Manhattan-style building offers a fresh, professional, and welcoming environment for our members and the community. Details about our ribbon-cutting celebration will be announced in January.

This month we are proud to continue honoring those who serve our country. We will be honoring three Veterans at our Annual Veterans Day Luncheon on Wednesday, November 20th at 12:00 Noon at the Massapequa Elks Lodge. We invite all members to join us in recognizing these local heroes for their service and dedication.

On Sunday, November 23rd, do not miss our 5th Annual Holiday Fair at Memorare Caterers in Seaford. Families can enjoy free photos with Santa, a magic show, face painting, along with plenty of holiday shopping with our members and local vendors.

Our Annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting will take place on Saturday, December 6th at Klestinec Park. The start time has been moved up to 5:00 PM. Santa will be joining us, and we hope you bring the whole family for this festive community celebration.

As we enter one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, I encourage everyone to shop local during Small Business Season, which runs from November 29 through December 31. Supporting our neighborhood businesses keeps our community strong and vibrant. Please visit our member list at www.massapequachamber.org to find great local businesses to shop with this season.

As we gather with loved ones this month, I want to take a moment to wish you and your families a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.

Warm regards,

Robin Hepworth

As I write this, my favorite season of beaches, barbecues and flip flops has officially come to a close, and fall has arrived. While I’ll miss those long, sunny days, I’m excited for the season ahead and for all the ways our Chamber will continue to bring people and businesses in our community together.

This past summer, we were honored to sponsor the Massapequa Park Fireworks, and it was great to see so many families and neighbors come together for such a fantastic evening. We also had a great time participating in Park After Dark, connecting with our community and supporting our local businesses. We also held our very first Member Appreciation Picnic at Marjorie Post Park in August, and it was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, good food, and great company.

One of my favorite events each year is our Annual Police Luncheon, which we held on September 25th at the American Legion Post 1066. As the wife of a retired NYPD Lieutenant who proudly served for 31 years, this event holds special meaning for me. The Massapequa Chamber of Commerce is always proud to Back the Blue! This special celebration shines a well-deserved spotlight on the heroes of the Nassau County Police Department. This year, we had the privilege of honoring Police Officers Christopher Guardino, Christopher Lamonica, Paul Mangione, and Brittany Jackolski. They all exemplify dedication, compassion, and service to our community. A special thank you to our generous event sponsor, New You Plastic Surgery, for helping make this day possible.

With the fall season in full swing, we’re looking forward to several upcoming events that promise to bring our community even closer together! Our Second Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat, proudly sponsored by James Funeral Home, will take place on October 18th from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the McKenna Elementary/Senior Center Parking Lot. This family-friendly event is open exclusively to Massapequa families and will feature our Chamber member businesses in a fun-filled, spooky afternoon!

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time that holds special meaning for our Chamber as we remember our beloved Past President and dear friend, Patricia Orzano, who passed away in November 2023 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Patty’s dedication to our Chamber and her love for this community were extraordinary. In her honor, we encourage everyone, especially women, to make their health a priority by scheduling routine mammograms and screenings. Early detection truly saves lives.

As the spooky season continues, we’re excited to host more opportunities for networking and fun! Join us for our Annual Fall “Spooktacular” After-Hours General Meeting on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:00 PM at Zona Restaurant. Costumes are optional but always welcome! It’s a perfect evening to connect with fellow business leaders while enjoying a delicious dinner in a festive atmosphere. Be sure to visit our website to RSVP!

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to celebrate the continued growth and success of our members. Recent ribbon-cuttings and milestones highlight the vibrancy of our local business community. We welcomed Over South Real Estate and congratulated Sean Manning and the entire team on their Grand Opening in Massapequa – it was a pleasure celebrating this new beginning with you and we wish you great success as you help families find their dream homes! We also celebrated the 10-Year Anniversary of Mercato Kitchen & Cocktails – congratulations to Keleigh, Brian, and Matt Bivona! A decade in business is an incredible accomplishment and a true testament to your commitment to excellence, exceptional cuisine and service and we wish you many more ahead.

I am also very excited to welcome our three newest board members: Randi Jankowski, Anthony Migliorelli, and Angela Shirian. Their enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and commitment to the community will be an incredible asset as we continue to grow and strengthen our organization.

We also bid a fond farewell to our Office Manager, Shelley Siemsen, who is moving on after ten years of dedicated service to our Chamber. Shelley has been the heart of our office, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter. We are incredibly grateful for all she has done for our members and our community.

If you’d like to get involved, please call us at 516-541-1443 or visit www.massapequachamber.org to learn more about membership and sponsorship opportunities. We can’t wait to welcome you into our vibrant Chamber family.

Warm Regards,
Robin Hepworth, President
Chamber of Commerce of the Massapequas, Inc.
