President’s Message – October 2020

Dear Fellow Members,

One of the nicest things about being your Chamber President is the fact that we are able to perform great tasks in promoting the Business Community and their accomplishments, and that is exactly what we achieved at our last meeting in September at Gusto Divino.

We honored the Nassau County Police Department and the officers that they had selected to be given recognition for all of their heroic deeds and services. Our elected officials, one by one, attended and honored them with proclamations and citations that were very well-deserved. I offer on behalf of the Chamber the congratulations to the following Honorees:

• NC PO Edward Acerra
• NC PO Ashley Copertino
• NC PO Blaise Smeraldi
• NC PO Bryan Monette
• NC PO Kevin Sollene
• Retired Lt. Andrew Hepworth NYPD

These individuals were well-deserving, and they truly appreciated what the Chamber did in giving them this recognition. News 12 Long Island covered this event, and it was on their evening report. This provided great publicity to the Chamber and our deeds.

We look forward to this ceremony every September, and we will ALWAYS support our Police and First Responders with this event, as well as with the Feed a Precinct Program.

Our programs are now in full swing, and we look forward to the Super Raffle, spearheaded by Chairperson Patty Orzano, Past President who is selling tickets and needs some help. The need for funding with this program is very important. Please see Patty at our October Luncheon, and please bring $50.00 for purchasing a ticket, and hopefully help with selling some as well.

The Restaurant Week is being organized by our Third VP Robin Hepworth, and we look forward to that program kicking off this month.

We also are getting ready for our Christmas and Hanukkah Celebration, in whatever way we are able to do that. Greg Massimi is the Chairman and will present a plan for us in the near future.

The October meeting will be dedicated to honoring our Chaplain Fr. Tony Heinlein, as he is always there for us and we will give him the recognition that he deserves. We will be holding this meeting on Thursday, October 22nd at 12:00 Noon at the Nautilus Diner on Merrick Road. To register for this meeting, please visit www.massapequachamber.org.

A friendly reminder that membership dues notices for 2021 will go out early within the next month. as we need the revenue to meet our operating budget. Please remit your payment when you receive the bill in the mail or the e-mail notification.

Lastly, I thank all for the cooperation in getting our Chamber’s name out there and promoting membership, programs, and the services that we provide. I wish for all a great Columbus Day weekend and a safe Halloween for the kids in this very different year as we know it. Stay Safe and Healthy!

God Bless all during this difficult time in our history.
