President’s Message – October 2023 Edition

Welcome to the new President’s Message for the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce. We have many exciting things happening in the Chamber, and I wanted to change up our message going forward. We are growing rapidly (with an average of 8 new members a month), so I wanted to highlight our new members going forward, and also give everyone an update on what is going on in our community.

First, I want to remind everyone that we have the Holiday Fair and the Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony coming up on Saturday, December 2nd. It will be a great way to kick off the holiday season. At the Holiday Fair in the morning and afternoon, you can bring the kids to see Santa, come and see what holiday treats and crafts the vendors have to offer, and get your holiday gifts and decorations all in one place. Then, we’ll cap off the night with the Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony – if you have any promotional gifts or giveaways that you would like to hand out to the people who come, please let Shelley know and we will arrange it. This year, we are going to give our members the opportunity to meet the attendees and give away gifts, like coloring books, hats, promotional items, etc. – another great member benefit that we have added!

We also have several networking opportunities coming up in November, so go to our new website (massapequachamber.org) and you can see the events lining up. With the new website, our members can now log in and post their upcoming events on our calendar. It is very easy to do – you just need to log in and you can update it yourself now.

For October, we had 7 new members join the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce:

  • Stretch Lab joined as a Platinum member and opened at 5500 Sunrise Highway. They offer assisted stretching.
  • Memorare Caterers joined as a Platinum member and has a catering hall at 2183A Jackson Ave., Seaford. They have been serving our community for over 60 years. Businesses located outside of Massapequa are welcome to join, so long as they serve the Massapequa community.
  • Autumn Leaf Baking joined as a Platinum member. The owner, Mike, makes some of the best cookies and pies you have ever had. Yes, I am a client myself, and give out his pies as gifts – people rave about them! Mike runs a home-based business, and that is also very much welcomed in our Chamber.
  • Corr Interiors joined as a Platinum Member. Frances is a commercial designer and decorator – and she designed my new office! She is also currently working with our other Chamber member, Century 21 AA Realty, for their new location on Broadway.
  • Long Island Tutoring joined as a Platinum Member. They are located at 903 N. Broadway, and provide affordable tutoring to students of all ages and grade levels.
  • Gum Drop Garden joined as a Gold Member. We will be celebrating the Grand Re-Opening of their candy shop, located at 4137 Merrick Road, Massapequa.
  • Calmed Psychiatry joined as a Silver Member. They operate as a psychiatric nurse practitioner here in Massapequa.

As you can see, we have several home-based businesses who joined this month, and we encourage you to join if you have a home-based business as well. Our goal as a Chamber is to help our members promote themselves through networking and social media, while helping them get an online presence and providing community events like our Street Festival in June and the Holiday Fair in December. We are also looking for people who want to get on our committees to help us achieve our mission.

Hope to see everyone at our many events!
