President’s Message – August 2021

August 1, 2021

Dear Merchants, Business Owners, and Fellow Members,

I hope that you are all enjoying the Summer days and long nights for activities, get-togethers, and for all to have a great time. We have been busy at the Chamber. Thanks to Past President Tony Ventiera, we are just about ready for our upcoming Street Festival on Sunday August 15th on Lower Broadway in Massapequa. The activities will kick off at 11am and the opening ceremony will be at 1pm for all to enjoy. There will be food, fun, and entertainment for all.

We are also proud to honor that day our Grand Marshal – Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino, and we invite all to come and pay tribute to our local Town officials led by the Supervisor.

We will also have many vendors and sponsors, and we ask you to support the local merchants by stopping by and supporting their businesses. The Chamber will also have a membership promotion table, so we ask all to stop by and say hello as well.

August brings our first Board Meeting and first luncheon of our new fiscal year. We will once again hold our Board Meetings at the American Legion Post 1066 Hall, and we give thanks to Commander Joe Clark and the Post for hosting us each month. We look forward to many great meetings, and for all to be able to get together again in person.

I must at this time congratulate our Office Administrator Shelley Siemsen and her Husband Chris, as they are holding their formal wedding this month. I wish them many good years of Health and Happiness on behalf of our Board. God Bless you both!!

I will be formulating the Nassau Council of Chambers Selection Committee for our Chamber Businessperson of the Year. There will be two awards this year – one for 2020 and another for 2021. (This is being done to make up for the pandemic that put all on hold last year.) The Recognition Breakfast will be held October 29 at Crest Hollow Country Club.

Our community benches have been installed thanks to Past President Patty Orzano. They are enhancing the community with a nice place for residents to sit and relax during the day.

I look forward to seeing all at the annual Festival, and ask that you all come and say hello to me and the other Board Members on this day so that we can get to know each other a little more.

Enjoy the rest of the summer as well, and stay healthy!

Sincerely,
Keith Wilson
President, Massapequa Chamber of Commerce
